In Dickens' England, resurrection always sat firmly in a Christian context. Most broadly, Sydney Carton is resurrected in spirit at the novel's close (even as he, paradoxically, gives up his physical life to save Darnay's—just as in Christian belief, Christ died for the sins of the world.) More concretely, "Book the First" deals with the rebirth of Dr. Manette from the living death of his incarceration.
Resurrection appears for the first time when Mr. Lorry replies to the message carried by Jerry Cruncher with the words "Recalled to Life". Resurrection also appears during Mr. Lorry's coach ride to Dover, as he constantly ponders a hypothetical conversation with Dr. Manette: ("Buried how long?" "Almost eighteen years." ... "You know that you are recalled to life?" "They tell me so.") He believes he is helping with Dr. Manette's revival and imagines himself "digging" up Dr. Manette from his grave.
Resurrection is the main theme in the novel. In Jarvis Lorry's thoughts of Dr. Manette, resurrection is first spotted as a theme. It is also the last theme: Carton's sacrifice. Dickens originally wanted to call the entire novel Recalled to Life. (This instead became the title of the first of the novel's three "books".)
Jerry is also part of the recurring theme: he himself is involved in death and resurrection in ways the reader does not yet know. The first piece of foreshadowing comes in his remark to himself: "You'd be in a blazing bad way, if recalling to life was to come into fashion, Jerry!" The black humour of this statement becomes obvious only much later on. Five years later, one cloudy and very dark night (in June 1780), Mr. Lorry reawakens the reader's interest in the mystery by telling Jerry it is "Almost a night ... to bring the dead out of their graves". Jerry responds firmly that he has never seen the night do that.
It turns out that Jerry Cruncher's involvement with the theme of resurrection is that he is what the Victorians called a "Resurrection Man", one who (illegally) digs up dead bodies to sell to medical men (there was no legal way to procure cadavers for study at that time).
The opposite of resurrection is of course death. Death and resurrection appear often in the novel. Dickens is angered that in France and England, courts hand out death sentences for insignificant crimes. In France, peasants are even put to death without any trial, at the whim of a noble. The Marquis tells Darnay with pleasure that "In the next room (my bedroom), one fellow ... was poniarded on the spot for professing some insolent delicacy respecting his daughter—his daughter!"
Interestingly, the demolition of Dr. Manette's shoe-making workbench by Miss Pross and Mr. Lorry is described as "the burning of the body".It seems clear that this is a rare case where death or destruction (the opposite of resurrection) has a positive connotation, since the "burning" helps liberate the doctor from the memory of his long imprisonment. But Dickens' description of this kind and healing act is strikingly odd:
So wicked do destruction and secrecy appear to honest minds, that Mr. Lorry and Miss Pross, while engaged in the commission of their deed and in the removal of its traces, almost felt, and almost looked, like accomplices in a horrible crime.

Eight people — Lawrence Wargrave, Vera Claythorne, Philip Lombard, General John Macarthur, Emily Brent, Anthony Marston, Dr Edward Armstrong and William Blore — have been invited (some more formally than others) to a mansion on the fictional Soldier Island. Upon arriving, they are told by the butler and cook, a married couple, Thomas and Ethel Rogers, that their hosts, Mr and Mrs Owen (Ulick Norman Owen and Una Nancy Owen) are not present but will arrive soon, which the guests all find odd. Each guest finds in his or her room a framed copy of the nursery rhyme "Ten Little Soldiers" ("Niggers" or "Indians" in respective earlier editions) hanging on the wall.
After the evening meal, guests notice ten soldier figurines on the dining room table. When a victim dies as described in the rhyme, one figure will vanish. Each guest was lured by an individually tailored pretext, none can leave without the boatman, instructed to return to the mainland. As instructed by Isaac Morris, the go-to for "Mr and Mrs Owens", the manservant Rogers plays a gramophone recording (thinking it to be a piece of music) which accuses each person in the house of murder, but escaping justice.
Dr Armstrong, when much younger, operated while drunk, killing a patient during what should have been routine surgery. Marston drove recklessly, killing two children. Emily Brent dismissed her pregnant unmarried maid who then committed suicide. Soldier-of-fortune Lombard abandoned a number of indigenous African tribesmen whom he had commanded and stole their food. Blore, a policeman, framed an innocent man who died in prison. General Macarthur sent his wife's lover on a suicide mission. Thomas and Ethel Rogers withheld medicine from their former elderly employer, induced heart failure, and inherited. Wargrave is accused of being responsible for the execution of a man then widely believed to have been innocent. Vera Claythorne is accused of killing a child for whom she had been a governess. Marston and Lombard are the only guests to openly admit the charges against them.
Marston dies first from poisoning by cyanide in his drink, complying with verse — "one choked his little self". That night, Mrs Rogers overdoses on sleeping medication, chloral hydrate — "one overslept himself". At lunchtime, General Macarthur is found dead from a blow to the back of his skull — "one said he'd stay there".
Armstrong, Blore, and Lombard search the island and the house but find nowhere to hide. Their host "U.N. Owen" is a homophone for "unknown". The next morning, Rogers is found dead in the woodshed, struck in the back of the head with an axe — "one chopped himself in halves". Later that day, Miss Brent is killed in the dining room by an injection of potassium cyanide that leaves a mark on her neck — "A bumblebee stung one". The needle is found outside her window next to a smashed china figurine. Wargrave suggests locking up any potential weapons, including Armstrong's medical equipment and the judge's sleeping pills. Lombard admits to bringing a revolver to the island but is confounded to find it missing.
To stay safe, they gather in the drawing room, and only leave one at a time. Vera decides to go up to her room to retrieve a coat; after she starts screaming hysterically at fresh seaweed which someone hung in her bedroom, and the remaining men run upstairs. Noticing Wargrave's absence they head downstairs and find the judge, dressed in a mockery of a judicial wig and gown with the bright mark of a gunshot to the forehead — "one got into Chancery". Armstrong confirms the death. Lombard then finds his revolver in a drawer.

The Fellowship of the Ring:
The story begins in the Shire, where the Hobbit Frodo Baggins inherits the Ring from Bilbo, his cousin[note 2] and guardian. Neither is aware of its origin and nature, but Gandalf the Grey, a wizard and old friend of Bilbo, suspects the Ring's identity. When he becomes certain, he strongly advises Frodo to take it away from the Shire. Frodo leaves, accompanied by his gardener and friend, Samwise ("Sam") Gamgee, and two cousins, Meriadoc ("Merry") Brandybuck and Peregrin ("Pippin") Took. They nearly encounter the Nazgûl while still in the Shire, but shake off pursuit by cutting through the Old Forest, where they are aided by the enigmatic Tom Bombadil, who alone is unaffected by the Ring's corrupting influence. After leaving the forest, they stop in the town of Bree where they meet Strider, who is later revealed to be Aragorn, Isildur's heir. He persuades them to take him on as guide and protector. They flee from Bree after narrowly escaping another assault, but the Nazgûl follow and attack them on the hill of Weathertop, wounding Frodo with a Morgul blade. Aragorn leads the hobbits toward the Elven refuge of Rivendell, while Frodo gradually succumbs to the wound. The Ringwraiths nearly overtake Frodo at the Ford of Bruinen, but flood waters summoned by Elrond, master of Rivendell, rise up and overwhelm them.
Frodo recovers in Rivendell under the care of Elrond. The Council of Elrond reveals much significant history about Sauron and the Ring, as well as the news that Sauron has corrupted Gandalf's fellow wizard, Saruman. The Council decides that the Ring must be destroyed, but that can only be done by returning it to the flames of Mount Doom in Mordor, where it was forged. Frodo volunteers to take on this daunting task, and a "Fellowship of the Ring" is formed to aid him: Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf, and the Man Boromir, son of the Ruling Steward Denethor of the realm of Gondor.
After a failed attempt to cross the Misty Mountains via the pass below Caradhras, the company are forced to try a more perilous path through the Mines of Moria, where they are attacked by the Watcher in the Water before the gate. Inside, they discover the fate of Balin and his colony of Dwarves. After repulsing an attack, they are pursued by orcs and an ancient and powerful demonic creature called a Balrog. Gandalf confronts the Balrog, but in their struggle, both fall into a deep chasm. The others escape and take refuge in the Elven forest of Lothlórien, where they are counselled by Galadriel and Celeborn.
With boats and gifts from Galadriel, the company travel down the River Anduin to the hill of Amon Hen. Boromir succumbs to the lure of the Ring and attempts to take it from Frodo. Frodo escapes and determines to continue the quest alone, though Sam guesses his intent and comes along. The Fellowship of the Ring is broken.
The Two Towers:
Orcs sent by Saruman and Sauron kill Boromir and kidnap Merry and Pippin. After agonizing over which pair of hobbits to follow, Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas pursue the orcs bearing Merry and Pippin to Saruman. In the kingdom of Rohan, the orcs are slain by a company of the Rohirrim. Merry and Pippin escape into Fangorn Forest, where they are befriended by Treebeard, the oldest of the tree-like Ents. Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas track the hobbits to Fangorn, and encounter Gandalf, resurrected as the significantly more powerful "Gandalf the White" after his mutually fatal duel with the Balrog. Gandalf assures them that Merry and Pippin are safe. They then ride to Edoras, the capital of Rohan, where they free Théoden, King of Rohan, from the influence of Saruman's henchman GrÃma Wormtongue. Théoden musters his fighting strength and rides to the ancient fortress of Helm's Deep, but en route Gandalf leaves to seek help from Treebeard.
Meanwhile, the Ents, roused from their customarily peaceful ways by Merry and Pippin, attack Isengard, Saruman's stronghold, and trap the wizard in the tower of Orthanc. Gandalf convinces Treebeard to send an army of Huorns to Théoden's aid. Gandalf and Rohirrim reinforcements arrive at Helm's Deep just in time to defeat and scatter Saruman's army. The Huorns dispose of the fleeing orcs. Gandalf then parleys with Saruman at Orthanc. When Saruman rejects his offer of redemption, Gandalf strips him of his rank and most of his powers. Pippin looks into a palantÃr, a seeing-stone that Saruman had used to communicate with Sauron and through which he was enslaved. Gandalf rides for Minas Tirith, chief city of Gondor, taking Pippin with him.
Frodo and Sam capture Gollum, who had been following them from Moria, and force him to guide them to Mordor. Finding Mordor's Black Gate too well guarded to attempt, they travel instead to a secret passage Gollum knows. Torn between his loyalty to Frodo and his desire for the Ring, Gollum eventually betrays Frodo by leading him to the great spider Shelob in the tunnels of Cirith Ungol. Frodo is felled by Shelob's bite, but Sam fights her off. Sam takes the Ring and leaves Frodo, believing him to be dead. When orcs find Frodo, Sam overhears them say that Frodo is only unconscious, and chases after them.
The Return of the King:
Sauron unleashes a heavy assault upon Gondor. Gandalf arrives at Minas Tirith to alert Denethor of the impending attack. The city is besieged, and Denethor, deceived by Sauron, gives up hope and commits suicide, nearly taking his remaining son Faramir with him. With time running out, Aragorn feels he has no choice but to take the Paths of the Dead, accompanied by Legolas, Gimli and the Dúnedain Rangers from the North. There Aragorn raises an undead army of oath-breakers bound by an ancient curse. The ghostly army help them to defeat the Corsairs of Umbar invading southern Gondor. Commandeering the ships of the Corsairs, Aragorn leads reinforcements up the Anduin to relieve the siege of Minas Tirith, and the forces of Gondor and Rohan defeat Sauron's army in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
Meanwhile, Sam rescues Frodo from the tower of Cirith Ungol, and they set out across Mordor. In order to distract Sauron from his true danger, Aragorn leads the armies of Gondor and Rohan in a march on the Black Gate of Mordor. His vastly outnumbered troops fight desperately against Sauron's forces. Reaching the edge of the Cracks of Doom, Frodo is unable to resist the Ring any longer, and suddenly and fiercely claims it for himself. But Gollum suddenly reappears, struggles with Frodo and bites off his finger, Ring and all. Celebrating wildly, Gollum accidentally falls into the fire, taking the Ring with him; and so Frodo's mission is completed. With the destruction of the One Ring, Sauron is permanently shorn of his power, the Nazgûl perish, and his armies are thrown into such disarray that Aragorn's forces emerge victorious.
With the end of the War of the Ring, Aragorn is crowned Elessar, King of Arnor and Gondor, and marries his long-time love, Arwen, daughter of Elrond. Saruman escapes from Isengard and, seeking to carve out a new kingdom, enslaves the Shire through Lotho Sackville-Baggins bearing the name "Sharkey", an orc term for "Old Man". The four hobbits, upon returning home, raise a rebellion and overthrow him. GrÃma turns on Saruman and kills him, and is slain in turn by hobbit archers. The War of the Ring thus comes to its true end on Frodo's very doorstep. Merry and Pippin are acclaimed heroes, while Sam marries Rosie Cotton and uses his gifts from Galadriel to help heal the Shire. He later becomes mayor of the shire. Frodo, however, remains wounded in body and spirit after having borne the spiritual weight of the One Ring so long.
Several years later, accompanied by Bilbo and Gandalf, he sails from the Grey Havens west over the Sea to the Undying Lands to find peace. After Rosie's death, Sam gives his daughter the Red Book of Westmarch, containing the account of Bilbo's adventures and the War of the Ring as witnessed by the hobbits. Sam is then said to have crossed west over the Sea himself, the last of the Ring-bearers.

The narrator explains that, as a young boy, he once drew a picture of a boa constrictor with an elephant digesting in its stomach; however, every adult who saw the picture would mistakenly interpret it as a drawing of a hat. Whenever the narrator would try to correct this confusion, he was ultimately advised to set aside drawing and take up a more practical or mature hobby. The narrator laments upon adults' lack of creative understanding.
Now, as an adult himself, the narrator has become a pilot, and, one day, his plane crashes in the Sahara desert, far from civilization. Here, the narrator is suddenly greeted by a young boy or small man whom he refers to as "the little prince". The little prince asks the narrator to draw a sheep. The narrator first shows him his old picture of the elephant inside the snake, which, to the narrator's surprise, the prince interprets correctly. After a few failed attempts at drawing a good-looking sheep, the narrator simply draws a box in his frustration, claiming that the box holds a sheep inside. Again to the narrator's surprise, the prince exclaims that this is exactly the picture he wanted. The narrator says that the prince has a strange habit of avoiding directly answering any of the narrator's questions. The prince is described as having golden hair, a scarf, and a lovable laugh.
Over the course of eight days stranded in the desert, as the narrator attempts to repair his plane, the little prince recounts the story of his life. The prince begins by describing life on his tiny home planet: in effect, an asteroid the size of a house (which the narrator believes to be the one known as B-612). The asteroid's most prominent features are three minuscule volcanoes (two active, and one dormant or extinct) as well as a variety of plants. The prince describes spending his earlier days cleaning the volcanoes and weeding out certain unwanted seeds and sprigs that infest his planet's soil; in particular, pulling out baobab trees that are constantly trying to grow and overtake the surface. The prince appears to want a sheep to eat such undesirable plants, until the narrator informs him that a sheep will even eat roses with thorns. Upon hearing this, the prince tells of his love for a mysterious rose that suddenly began growing on the asteroid's surface some time ago. The prince says he nourished the rose and listened to her when she told him to make a screen or glass globe to protect her from the cold wind. Although the prince fell in love with the rose, he also began to feel that she was taking advantage of him, and he resolved to leave the planet to explore the rest of the universe. Although the rose finally apologized for her vanity, and the two reconciled, she encouraged him to go ahead with his journey and so he traveled onward.

Gandalf tricks Bilbo into hosting a party for Thorin and his band of dwarves, who sing of reclaiming the Lonely Mountain and its vast treasure from the dragon Smaug. When the music ends, Gandalf unveils a map showing a secret door into the Mountain and proposes that the dumbfounded Bilbo serve as the expedition's "burglar". The dwarves ridicule the idea, but Bilbo, indignant, joins in spite of himself.
The group travels into the wild, where Gandalf saves the company from trolls who are keen to eat the dwarfs and leads them to Rivendell, where Elrond reveals more secrets from the map, including the secret door that leads to the mountain caverns. Passing over the Misty Mountains, they are caught by goblins and driven deep underground. Although Gandalf rescues them, Bilbo gets separated from the others as they flee the goblins. Lost in the goblin tunnels, he stumbles across a mysterious ring and then encounters Gollum, who engages him in a game of riddles. As a reward for solving all riddles Gollum will show him the path out of the tunnels, but if Bilbo fails, his life will be forfeit. With the help of the ring, which confers invisibility, Bilbo escapes and rejoins the dwarves, improving his reputation with them. The goblins and Wargs give chase but the company are saved by eagles before resting in the house of Beorn.

The novel is most often titled Hóng Lóu Mèng (紅樓夢), literally "Red Chamber Dream". "Red chamber" is an idiom with several definitions; one in particular refers to the sheltered chambers where the daughters of prominent families reside.[6] It also refers to a dream in Chapter 5 that Baoyu has, set in a "red chamber", where the fates of many of the characters are foreshadowed. "Chamber" is sometimes translated as "mansion" because of the scale of the Chinese word "樓". However the word "mansion" is thought to neglect the flavour of the word "chamber" according to scholar Zhou Ruchang.
The novel's tone is both metaphysical and realistic,[8] and was constructed in a way that reality and illusion are often hinted side by side and difficult to differentiate.[8] It has been hailed as one of the most complex and psychologically penetrating works in all of world literature.[9] The novel also provides great insight in its depiction of the Chinese culture of the time, including description of the era's "manners, expectations, and consequences."Many aspects of Chinese culture, such as medicine, cuisine, tea culture, proverbs, mythology, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, filial piety, opera, music, painting, classic literature, the Four Books, are vividly portrayed. Among these, the novel is particularly notable for its grand use of poetry.

Second largest search company Yahoo has adopted a new logo for the first time since shortly after the Internet company's founding 18 years ago.
The redesigned look unveiled late Wednesday is part of a makeover that Yahoo Inc. has been undergoing since the Sunnyvale, California, company hired Google executive Marissa Mayer to become Yahoo's CEO 14 months ago.
Mayer has already spruced up Yahoo's front page, email and Flickr photo-sharing service, as well as engineered a series of acquisitions aimed at attracting more traffic on mobile devices.
The shopping spree has been highlighted by Yahoo's $1.1 billion purchase of Tumblr, an Internet blogging service where the company rolled out its new logo.
The purple logo spells out the word Yahoo!, with no letters touching and ending with an exclamation point.
"We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products," a statement on the website said.
In an effort to drum up more interest in the changeover, Yahoo spent the past 30 days showing some of the proposed logos that Mayer and other executives cast aside.
The revision is the first time that Yahoo has made a significant change to its logo since a few tweaks shortly after co-founders Jerry Yang and David Filo incorporated the company in 1995.
Mayer's overhaul of Yahoo has attracted a lot of attention, but so far it hasn't provided a significant lift to the company's revenue. Yahoo depends on Internet advertising to make most of its money, an area where the company's growth has been anemic while more marketing dollars flow to rivals such as Google Inc. and Facebook Inc.
Yahoo's stock has climbed by nearly 80 percent, but most of that gain has been driven by the company's 24 percent stake in China's Alibaba Holdings Group. Investors prize Alibaba because it has emerged as one of the fastest growing companies on the Internet.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd unveiled a smartwatch on Wednesday that works as an accessory to its market-leading Galaxy smartphones, with a small screen offering basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging.
The world's top handset maker hopes the Galaxy Gear will boost the appeal of its range of Android-powered smartphones, as it battles to maintain its supremacy in the rapidly saturating high-end mobile market against arch rival Apple Inc.
Its launch, timed to coincide with the start of the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, also signals that the South Korean giant is more than just a fast follower in innovation behind Apple, which is preparing to release a new iPhone next week but is yet to go public with any wearable devices.
"It's a companion device that will keep us constantly connected," Samsung Executive Vice President of Marketing Lee Young-hee told reporters in Seoul ahead of the smartwatch's launch. Her remarks had been embargoed until Wednesday.
"It will increase user experience with the Galaxy Note 3 and with this, we aim to create a new lifestyle trend, initially targetting young trend-setters and style icons."
The smartwatch features a 1.63-inch (4.14-cm) screen as well as a basic camera, and will connect to Samsung's latest Galaxy Note 3 smartphone via wireless Bluetooth technology. It will make calls, display messages, record videos and snap photos, all while the user's phone stays in their pocket or handbag.
The success of Samsung's latest smartwatch - clunky earlier versions in 1999 and 2009 didn't go down well with consumers - will be measured as much in how it affects sales of high-end Galaxy smartphones as in sales of the device itself.
But it is also a shot across the bows of Apple and Google Inc, which are widely believed to be working on their own wrist-worn devices in what analysts expect to be the next phase of the mobile communications boom.
"We had smartwatch-type products before, but they were mainly for making phone calls. What's different with the Gear is it's got far more useful functions. It's usability has increased significantly and design is not bulky," said J.K. Shin, Samsung's co-chief executive and head of mobile business.
Not revolutionary
The Gear, which will go on sale later this month for $299, doesn't have a flexible or curved display that some industry watchers had hoped to see on Samsung's newest products.
Instead, its OLED touch screen features half the picture quality of high-end smartphone displays and the camera nestling in the strap has only 1.9-megapixels - compared with a 13-megapixel rear camera on the Galaxy S4.
It has up to 70 dedicated applications including some basic fitness apps such as a step-counting passometer, although Samsung hopes this number will grow as developers get on board.
Battery life, a key challenge for most wearable devices, has improved to over 27 hours under Samsung's normal-use tests.
Samsung also unveiled the latest version of the Galaxy Note phone-cum-tablet at its Galaxy unpacked event in Berlin, before the opening of IFA, Europe's biggest consumer electronics trade fair.
The new phone features an even bigger 5.7-inch, high-definition screen, improved stylus functions, a 13-megapixel rear camera and faster data connection than the conventional 4G network.

Tab i love them, new tab in market now.
The Surface Pro might not have been received as warmly by PC enthusiasts as Microsoft would have hoped, but that apparently hasn't stopped the Redmond giant from building the next iteration of the tablet that becomes a portable computer with its special keyboard covers.
While murmurs suggesting that Microsoft was working on the next-generation Surface tablet have been around for quite some time, a new report by Neowin sheds some light on the specifications of the purported Surface 2 tablet, citing its own sources.
The website mentions that the Surface 2 will be powered by fourth-generation Intel core 'Haswell' processors, most likely an Intel Core i5. It's expected to come with an option of up to 8GB RAM, as per the report.
The site also informs that the new tablet will look similar to the current Surface Pro, however, Microsoft has "refined" the kickstand that comes with the device and helps in using the tablet as a notebook. It clarifies that while it's not aware of specific changes to the kickstand, it's speculated that the kickstand could be more robust or could offer alternative viewing angles.
It also adds that Microsoft would start a new marketing campaign to promote the new Surface Pro and that there won't be a major change in terms of the device's pricing. The site says that it does not have knowledge of the next-generation Surface's launch time frame.
Meanwhile, Paul Thurott of WindowsSite has also confirmed that the next-generation Surface Pro will indeed feature a Haswell Core i5 processor, but has clarified that Microsoft will offer a choice of RAM, most likely between 4GB and 8GB. He also added that the new Surface tablets will come with a two-position kickstand and that it will look similar to the current Surface Pro.
Microsoft had unveiled the Surface tablet in two variants, Surface RT based on ARM architecture running Windows RT, a tablet version of Windows that did not support legacy apps, and Surface Pro, an Intel-powered version that runs Windows 8, in June 2012. While the Surface RT was available in October, the Pro variant was released in February 2013.The Surface tablet has not been doing well and Microsoft is yet to make any profit on it. In fact it had to slash prices of the Surface RT tablet by $150 in the US market.

Gimme a break, Google. Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar.
The tech giant, which is known for nick-naming its Android mobile operating systems for smartphones and tablets after desserts, has for the first time chosen a brand-name candy for version 4.4 that's expected to launch this fall: Kit Kat, the chocolate candy bar with the well-known "Gimme a Break" jingle. Kit Kat packaging will show Android's green robot mascot breaking a Kit Kat bar.
Financial terms weren't disclosed for the sweet deal between Google and Hershey Co., which makes Kit Kat. But the deal shows that naming a stadium or sponsoring a TV show can be seen as old school. The latest marketing craze may be to slap a brand name on a tech product.
Google approached Hershey about six to nine months ago for permission to use the name, said Jennifer Podhajsky, vice president of U.S. chocolate at Hershey, which licenses the Kit Kat brand in the U.S., while Nestle owns the worldwide brand.
Podhajsky said that Kit Kat's jingle is a good fit for people taking a break to look at their smartphones or tablets. She added that the deal appeals to Hershey because Android hits the sweet spot of Kit Kat eaters, who are typically between the ages of 18 and 34.
"Kit Kat consumers are young, vibrant consumers of candy and chocolate bars, and that's a nice match with Android," Podhajsky said.
The Kit Kat name was unexpected since tech pundits have speculated for months that the next operating system would be called Key Lime Pie. Marc Vanlerberghe, director of Android Marketing, said the name was chosen because Kit Kat bars have been a "favorite go-to snack among the team since the early days of Android."
The Android 4.4 Kit Kat system is expected to launch in October.
The software is now running on more than 1 billion smartphones and tablets throughout the world, making it the world's most widely used mobile operating system, Android chief Sundar Pichai revealed on Twitter.

High Flight by Pilot Officer Gillespie Magee
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
Romance by Edgar Allan Poe
Romance,
who loves to nod and sing
With drowsy head and folded wing
Among the green leaves as they shake
Far down within some shadowy lake,
To me a painted paroquet
have been—most familiar bird—
Taught me my alphabet to say,
To lisp my very earliest word
While in the wild wood I did lie,
A child—with a most knowing eye.
Of late, eternal condor years
So shake the very Heaven on high
With tumult as they thunder by,
I have no time for idle cares
Through gazing on the unquiet sky;
And when an hour with calmer wings
Its down upon my spirit flings,
That little time with lyre and rhyme
To while away—forbidden things—
My heart would feel to be a crime
Unless it trembled with the strings.

Virginity • Question On Girls’ Morality
the guy who came to see Swati for marriage asked her "R you Pure"
"Pure?? swati couldn't get his question.
"Pure as in untouched?" he clarified.
Swati now understood what he wanted to ask.
"What are u looking for a girl to marry or ghee?" she replied agitated by such a question. He was shocked at such a reply, but before he could say anything. Swati continued, "Well you can say if there was an exam about 'purity' I wouldn't top it!"
His family left.
Next day he rang up swati dad and told him that he cannot marry swati as she is a girl with low morals.
Bang on! Welcome to the progressive India where we claim to be modern people but still make Virginity a base to check a girl's morals or her capability to become a good wife. Today when we claim that women have an equal status in the society with that of men, we still are under the orthodox views of using a white bed sheet on the first night of marriage just to check the bride's virginity!!! The guy may himself have slept with number of girls but he wants a "pure", "untouched" girl as a wife. Why? Answer-just to satisfy his male ego that the girl he is going to spend his life with has been and will be only his "possession".
If today a girl loses her virginity with a guy she loves truly but the guy turns out to be a cheat then she is tagged as a "slut", "characterless girl" ; MIND YOU these being the most decent words I can pen down ,else there are a million more worse words in our mother tongue vocabulary. I ask what is the mistake of the girl? She loved a guy? She slept with someone she thought she would marry? Or, she now has lost her purity which would satisfy her to-be husband's male ego and make him believe that she is fit to be his wife! And again no answers I could get!
I completely support the fact that we Indians should not give up on our morals and accept everything that westernisation gives us but I wonder how can a biological wall in the girl's body by breaking decide the level of her morals? I mean swati could have been a great wife, she was marrying the guy her parents chose, maybe she had a bad past… But all that was seen was that she wasn't pure!
And I am forced to wonder that what would happen to those rape victims? Who would marry those girls? Moreover being from a sports background, I have always been told by those orthodox distant relatives to Quit it, why? because playing may result in breakage of the "moral wall"!! "
"Urggghhh ", that's what I have always thought after hearing that!!
Yes, I am also a girl, an Indian girl, who values her morals, for whom her "eZzat" is priceless, who has always dreamt of her "raajkumar" coming on a white horse to marry her, and who has always planned her wedding dress! But I am also a girl who belongs to the globalised world, interacts with the opposite sex, loves, has break ups, overcomes them and smiles again and no one has a right to tag me any thing for that reason! I just request you that next time you go looking for a girl for marriage, search for a true heart and not something like "pure ghee", because she 's gonna be your life partner and not your meal to satisfy your hunger of ego.
When you look at a beautiful girl coming dressed in a red lehanga leaving her world behind, to become a part of your world, accept her, make her life a bed of roses rather than testing her loyalty by making her lay down on a bed with white bed sheet because true love will make your marriage successful, her "purity" won't.

Chennai Express movie review
BUY TICKET N BE ON YOUR SEAT
Get on the train baby! ON May 2013 when the first look of Chennai Express was unveiled during the IPL semi-finals, the buzz for the much awaited and the highly anticipated movie of 2013 started. Since then, there have been numerous promotion sequences for this masala entertainer by its crew.
Chennai Express hit the theatres on 9th Aug i.e. Eid and it is a typical Bollywood masala flick. Director Rohit Shetty who has created a different genre for himself this time casts Shahrukh Khan as Rahul and Deepika Padukone as Meena in this substantial yet run-of-the-mill flick. Rahul is a 40 year old bachelor who lives with his grandfather and grandmother. He is asked by his grandmother to go to Rameshwaram for Asthi-Visarjan of his grandpa.
Right from here, the whole drama begins. It is Ready..Steady…GO time! He boards the Chennai express and if you think that the train sequence is completely borrowed from DDLJ, then you are wrong! (Suspense). Meena's father is a Don in a small area and his monstrous battalion of lungi clad uncles has a control over the police, the jurisdiction and even the railway track. Her father wants her to get married to a humungous homo sapien Tangaballi played by Nikitin Dheer so that he could have one more village under his belt.
Thereafter, everything is contrived by drama, emotions, romance and well, action which is a mandatory stuff for a Rohit Shetty entertainer. It has the same car popping progressions with some bike chasing added to it. Though there is less action but whatever is in it, is purely brainless.
Shahrukh Khan needs an advice of not touching the comedy genre ever as he cannot carry it smoothly. He is just magnificent in the romantic scenes. Well, that's definitely his arena. With Rahul as his character, you will surely miss the Kuch Kuch hota hai one in this flick. Though CE is a Rohit-Shahrukh entertainer but it is Deepika Padukone who steals the show. She is electrifying in her Tamil accent and looks charming. Full marks to her! The ossification of Tamil dialogues is an issue though.
BEST PART
The masala content will surely connect with the masses. The locations need a special mentioning here as they are pleasant, alluring and go with the theme. Some dialogues can surely tickle your funny bone. The cinematography, editing and screenplay are fine. A technically sound film. The music is good with 1 2 3 4 already popular , Tera raasta chhodun na is soulful and lungi dance is bearable and not to forget it has Shahrukh and Deepika with the topping of Rohit Shetty. So, it is bound to experience a phenomenal commercial success. Will make its collections by leap and bounds.
LOWER ENDS
The flick is flawed in some departments. Whether it is d excess of Tamil dialogues which surely need subtitles or the weak storyline and a plagued narration, d content may play spoilsport if you R not not an SRK fan. Shahrukh delivers an average performance.
VERDICT
With Shahrukh khan and Deepika as the USP and some good acting it is passable. The flick has the zest but lacks the character. The dialogues may become a reason for taking saradon pills. A one time watch movie. Recommended!
RATING- 3.5/5

Shake it off, take a step up!
One day a farmer´s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn´t worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone´s amazement, he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer´s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well, is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step upward!

LOVE PART 2
this love story part 2 . to read part 1 follow the link
http://www.greatypedia.org/2013/08/love-story-part-1.html
Was it 2 weeks or 3, he doesn't really remember. That is how long it
took for him to woo her. Or in fact, for him to be truly, deeply, in
love with her. He would lay his eyes on her and forget the world
around him.
People would say its exaggeration, but dear friend, that's how love
works. It is strange but it is how it is.
And finally, after a lot of hints from the PRINCEZzz, he did get on
his knees. On a cold wintery evening, with nothing but a bud of rose
in his hand, and a few words up his mind, he let it out. That felt
tougher than a surprise test, but yes, he did it. The fear of
rejection, well it stayed there , but for just about 5 seconds, that;s
how long she took to answer his fears, thoughts, questions, anxiety,
and a lot of other feelings.
They never knew who was what. Was he shy to hold her hands, or was she
shy to talk to him freely. They were hesitant, they were young, and
they were in love. And was it beautiful. They were happy beyond
imagination, beyond the materialistic world, beyond fights, sorrows,
miseries .
They were beyond all and everything, they were just into each other.
That is all they cared and thought about.
Days, weeks, months pass, again, but with that ever so profound
feeling of belonging, love, care. All was good and great but where
there is happiness, the devil gets around the corner. It was just a
few months and the first upsetting moments were soon to come. A
misunderstanding of sorts, or was it a failure of trust, or maybe just
a figment of thought that went way too off the track. Well whatever
happened, it was not really meant to.
It's raining outside, and he looks at his books. The music from his
phone, shakes him back to reality. Its almost 2 a.m., and there will
be an exam tomorrow. Why do those thoughts linger around, even now,
even after 4 years. It's been a while, a long while. The randomness of
his life is now replaced by the monotony of a college going student.
Stuck between being a child and an adult at the same time. Trying to
make firm decisions, making sacrifices at the same time. It's not easy
being in college, and even difficult , being in a society, that will
not leave you for 5 minutes of your time.
The phone rings. Who could it be at this late an hour. I lazily pick
my phone, and look at the screen through sleep deprived eyes. For a
moment its a stupid feeling in my head, but then i realize it's her
calling..
"Hi, hwzz you?" , she asks. The way she makes it sound so normal, it
shouldn't but it hurts. "Hi, am good. How are you? Pretty late. All
k?", i reply. "I am fine. Yaa yaa, all is fine. Just wanted to tell
you something". What does she want to tell me this late, all of a
sudden after no calls or texts in ten odd days. "Go on", i say. "
Rohit , we can not talk anymore." Now, that is surprising, cause we
hardly have been talking for quite sometime now. I wish to talk to
her, hell i do!! For as long as possible. But, anyways, the world
doesn't run how you want it to .I have sarcasm coming down my head,
but i restrain it. She continues, " Arjun asked me out today. And i
said Yes. So we can't be in touch anymore. No texts too please. I dont
wanna be….".
I hang up.

Astronomical basis of Vedic Astrology
Astronomical basis of Vedic Astrology
The Zodiac is a belt of heavens extending on both sides of the ecliptic. It encircles the space through which the planets travel in their orbits.
Vedic Astrology employs sidereal zodiac, which is different from the tropical zodiac used in Western Astrology. While the tropical (Western) Astrology uses the vernal equinox (the Sun's position at the beginning of spring) as the starting point for the measurements along the zodiac, the sidereal (Vedic) Astrology uses fixed stars to identify different segments along the zodiac.
The starting points of the sidereal and tropical zodiacs coincide once every 25,800 years. After that the starting points separate from each other by an approximate 1 degree of an arc per each 72 years. The difference between the longitude of the starting points of the sidereal and tropical zodiacs at any given time is called Ayanamsha.
Due to the existing controversy about the year in which the two starting points coincided last, there are several ayanamshas used by different schools of Vedic astrologers. Some of them are Lahiri, Krishnamurti, Raman, and Fagan ayanamshas. Lahiri is the most widely used Ayanamsha which is based on the last coincidence point taking place in the year 285 A.D.
Lahiri Ayanamsha for the year of your birth is -23:06:26 degrees.
If you want to convert your sidereal (Vedic) planetary positions into tropical (Western), you can do so by adding this ayanamsha to the degrees of the planets in your Vedic chart. To arrive at the sidereal positions by converting the tropical ones, you will need to subtract the ayanamsha from the tropical positions.
For example, your Sun is placed in 02:52 degrees of the constellation of ¯lg in your Vedic chart. When you add the ayanamsha for the year of your birth, which is -23:06:26 degrees, you will derive the tropical (Western Astrology) horoscope position of your Sun which happens to be placed in the sign of ¯lg. Therefore, your Jyotish (sidereal) Sun sign is ¯lg and your Western (tropical) Sun sign is ¯lg.

The North Indian Style Chart
The North Indian Style Chart
Let us take a look at your actual horoscope kundali (chart): Right now you are looking at your Jyotish chart formatted in the North Indian chart style. As you see, there are 12 individual sections in the horoscope. These sections are the bhavas (houses), and each house is fully occupied by one of the signs. The signs are marked within the bhavas (houses) with numerals. The numbering system used for marking the signs reflects the natural order of the signs (i.e. 1 - for Aries, 2 - for Taurus, 3 - for Gemini, 4 - for Cancer and so on). The house counting sequence follows a counterclockwise direction, and so does the sign sequence within the chart. The box at the center top of the chart is called the First house. The sign occupying the first house is called the Ascendant. Your Ascendant is the sign which was rising at the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. The sign is indicated by its corresponding number. In your chart, the first house is marked with number 6, which indicates the sign of dU;k. Therefore, your Ascendant is dU;k. The box on the left of the first house is called the second house. The number 2 in that house represents the sign of o`"k. Next to it is the third house, then the fourth, and so on up to the twelfth house. The sequential order of the houses is FIXED in the North India chart format. The top center box is always the first house and the bottom center one is always the seventh. When using the North Indian style chart you should also remember that the numbers within the houses represent the sign numbers, not the numbers of the houses. For your convenience, here is a complete verview: Each of the grahas (planets) is placed in one of the bhavas (houses). The planets are marked in the chart with their abbreviated names. Now we see from the picture of your chart, which houses your planets occupy. The Sun, indicated by the letters Su, is in house 12. The Moon (Mo) is in house 8. Mars (Ma) is in house 1. Mercury (Me) is in house 11. Jupiter (Ju) is in house 2. Venus (Ve) is in house 1. Saturn (Sa) is in house 11. Rahu (Ra) is in house 9. Ketu (Ke) is in house 3. Once again, you should not confuse the house numbers with the numbers that you see in your chart. The numbers in the houses represent the signs that occupy those houses. The houses must be counted in a counterclockwise direction from the 1st house, which is the top center house. The houses should be counted inclusively of the house you are counting from. For example the 3rd house is located three houses away from the first one, not two, and 11th house is 5 houses away from the 7th, not four. Even though within this tutorial we will always reference your chart in the North Indian format, you should learn the difference between North and South Indian chart styles. Let's take a look at your natal chart drawn in the South Indian format.

Love Story PART 1
Every one of us has a love story, or may be a crush , the madness for someone.
As crazy as it may sound, the very guy who at some point of life was
completely against the seating of boys and girls together in the
classroom would end up having a love story. And what a story it had to
be. Nothing less than filmy. Nothing less dramatic than a theatrical
hit. And the worse part, nothing as sad as another historical loss of
love. This is how, a school kid changed into a hardliner college
student, with nothing but a smile to fake, and left with nothing but
memories.
It all started after a long long summer. A new city and a new place. A
new school, with a lot of new people to know and adjust along. All
solace lay in that one face, that one smile, he would prod upon with
his eyes, and be lost in thoughts of. It all started with a smile, and
a smile, was what stole his heart away. A few months into higher
secondary school, the so called last step in the decade long journey
of schooling, he came across that smile. She was his angel, in his
thoughts and his dreams. Someone he longed for but with the cutest of
intentions. All he wanted was to sit and stare at that smile, for as
long as eternity. But would his voice actually muster up the courage to
speak to her. Well, it seemed to fail him as much as he tried. But no,
like they say, "When you want something, all the universe conspires in
helping you to achieve it." Friends, friends of friends..its a never
ending chain. And well the chain did carry his message to his
sweetheart, or was she to be his sweetheart?
In the absence of Facebook, Orkut and hi5 were his carrier pigeons and
the "yahoo messenger" was like a god given gift. And it all started
with a email id. The magic of how a person is elated with a single
"hi", can never be understood by anyone but the person themselves. The
curiosity to log-in after every 5 minutes , just in case you missed an
offline message. You don't want to exchange phone numbers, that might
be too desperate, but you so need to hear her voice. Her voice calling
out your name. So there it was , hour long chats on messenger. As soon
as he got back from school, till the time he had to leave for his
tuition classes, and back again till late at night. Thoughts, they
have no stop sign on them, neither do they listen to you. They dont
even care that they might just cause the very heart that lets them be
born , to collapse in false hopes and submerge in the darkness of ever
failing love.
Days , then weeks, they flew by, not knowing what was going to be the
outcome. Will it be a yes or a no. The hardest question ever. The
toughest decision and the even tougher thought of rejection and
depression that may follow. But he didn't know that it will be
depression and sadness, but after a long long magical night. That
would last for a really long time.
wait for LOVE STORY PART 2 :D

‘CEASEFIRE’.
So…….it has happened again. Yes….Yes my fellow readers, my beloved
countrymen and my dear folks, we have yet again witnessed the brutal
face of our neighboring country Pakistan, a country which is just an
outcome of the immoral demands of some past leaders. Sometimes I think
if the partition of India never happened. What we miss is the anxiety
during Indo-Pak cricket matches, skipped a few chapters in the history
books and would accommodate the common date of independence for both
the countries. I guess that it would be more better than the dark
history we had read, the partition that had left an unseen scar on the
lives of many, the 1965 attack, the 1971 attack at the Longewala Post,
the threatening Kargil war, attacks on Mumbai in 2008 and the
countless terrorist attacks that always use to engulf our beloved
country every now and then.
However, to discuss the history is not my point. Neither I am good in
speeches or any inciting stuff that could lead goose bumps nor Mark
Antony who had been able to invoke a civil war in Rome with his mere
speech on the murder of his friend to dethrone the murderers of Julius
Caesar. I am just an other Indian like you all. I have my own sets of
questions to be asked about this attack on my motherland. 10 days
after we had celebrated Vijay Divas, a yet another stinking deed was
committed by this neighboring country. I hope that you all are aware
that Pakistani Army has again killed 5 Indian Soldiers. However, the
irony of these killings are that they have entered into the Indian
territory, break the so called 'SEIZE-FIRE' pact between the two
nations and like a brutal assassin, just snatched the lives of the 5
devoted Indian Jawans by launching a sudden attack on that Indian
Chowki.
The proceedings that pursues in our nation after these killings are
more heart-breaking. Leaders have started to speak all their shit on
these killings, opposition was ignited and got some matter to do a yet
another word assault at the ruling government, media has get the
masala to talk and publish for a few days, the ruling government
became conscious of the talks that will be conducted between their
respective leaders in the next month, the common man has the
television remote to switch between the various news channels and to
curse the government on this killings. And this is what we have done
in the past many years. We have just either demanded to launch a
counter attack or to curse the government which is held responsible
for the every ill happening in our country.
However, in this course, we always use to forget that it is we who
have elected these representatives. The failure of the government is
our failure indirectly. I know what will be the outcome of these
killings. The people who are now cursing the government or asking to
launch a counter-attack, who are doing various rallies and burning
green flags will return to normal after a few days. They will become
normal as soon as the news channels will shift their gaze on another
'Breaking News'. They will turn normal and will continue their
struggle for the basic needs. And this has what we have done always in
the past. Whether it were attacks on Mumbai or the similar deed by
Pakistan earlier this year, we were fueled for a few days, pumped up
by the every activity of our government, but then muted ourselves as
we eventually have to feed our respective families and denied our
participation.
However, the time has come to demand the real independence. The time
has come to ponder over these attacks seriously, to fix our duties and
maybe, to appeal our Government to reply them in their own tone. I am
just hoping that our government would take some serious, solid steps
to stop these kind of killings in the future or to tell Pakistan their
real meaning of 'SEIZE-FIRE'.

☻☻Love your Parents ☻☻
I was 11 when my father had lost his job and for the next 5yrs he was without a job until he decided to do something of his own and make a living rather than waiting for a life. But there was one thing he never lost and never will, it was Hope!!
The teacher in my school always used to mark me for late payment of fees, I turned down birthday parties for the need to buy a gift, I was using the same bag for 4 years till it was completely unusable, using a non-dust rubber seemed a luxury and pencils were supposed to be used till I wasn't able to hold them, me and my sister used to share a sharpener, buying a good compass box was out of question, having different shoes for PT period was something that we couldn't afford, we couldn't buy a cycle so I learned cycling on my friend's cycle, I didn't go out to play for the fear of getting hurt&requiring medical attention, while playing cricket one either has to have a bat or contribute for the ball so I always was the umpire. School picnics were missed saying I was ill and the entire vacation was spent home watching TV or reading. I have a sister and her situation was the same.
My mother was the sole earning member of the family; we were a family of 6 and average middle class family. There were two such occasions when there was no money left for food and that was the time when my father sold some jewelry for survival, which was the first time I saw my dad cry from the corner of my eye. But even at such times my dad never said NO to anything, he always gave me hope that someday he will get all those things that I want, buy me everything that he ever promised to get me and make-up for all the discomfort that he couldn't give me and my sister.
It was my 18th birthday last week and my dad gifted me a Firefox cycle with a fast track bag, a Dragon ball Z compass with everything like pencil, rubber, sharpener, scale, etc. inside it. The whole night I was crying; he never forgot, he never let me down; it was never a false hope! He actually gave meaning to the words "Hope is a good thing, may not be the best of the things&No good thing ever dies!"
My parents got us through the worst times of our lives; I only wish that I could ever match what they did for us!"

New solar cells:
UCLA researchers have developed photovoltaic cells with twice the energy harvesting capacity of cells developed in 2012.
The cells, which can be processed to be transparent or in shades ranging from light green to brown.
These cells could be used to make building windows, smartphone screens, car sunroofs and other surfaces into sources of sustainable energy.

Loss of wealth can be overcomed but the loss of peoples can be never neglected. Many persons are lost, house got damaged and got destructed.

Is India a democratic country ?
India is democratic but indirect democratic country ,here representatives choosen by the people of India through votes during election proposes the rules and law in the parliament which are then decided by the supreme court.
Indirect democratic country the people cannot propose the rules or laws directly like in Switzerland which is a direct democratic country where people proposed the law.
In India all rules are made and decisions are taken by the representatives elected by the people and not by the people themselves. Parliament make rules but within the limits of Indian constitution which is governed by the supreme court.

Overview of the basic elements OF ASTROLOGY
Overview of the basic elements OF ASTROLOGY
Out of the many luminous bodies in the sky, there are ones that are fixed and
ones that move. The background of the fixed stars is called the zodiac and is
divided in separate, distinct spaces, called nakshatras. The heavenly bodies
that move are called Grahas (for the lack of a better word translated as
"Planets").
For predictive purposes Jyotish looks at the positions of the planets in
relation to the stars in the Zodiac at the time of one's birth. These positions
reveal how the universe was functioning at that instance. In a way, planets
are like 9 special measuring points from which the entire subtle state of
natural law can be measured. At the time of birth, when the body enters the
world, this state of the universe gets projected into the structure of
the life of
an individual.
Therefore, the conditions of these nine measuring points, the nine planets,
define the entire life span of events and circumstances for an individual.
The 9 Grahas
We just mentioned nine planets, even though not all of them are actual
planets. Only five of them are planets, one is a star, one is a moon, and the
remaining two are special mathematical points. Everyone is familiar with the
Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. The other two
elements included into the group are Rahu and Ketu, known as the North and
South Lunar nodes. Rahu and Ketu do not have physical substance, they are
two mathematical points that mark the point of intersection of the plane of
the Moon's orbit around the Earth with the ecliptic plane. Lunar or solar
eclipses occur when the Sun and the Moon are close to one of the nodes. From
now on, we shall refer to this group of "planets" with a proper Sanskrit term
Grahas.
Each graha (planet) represents certain facets of human life. Traditional Vedic
astrology does not consider the influences of Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto.
Here are the names of the grahas in Sanskrit:
SUN is SURYA MOON is CHANDRA
MARS is MANGALA
MERCURY is BUDHA
JUPITER is GURU
VENUS is SHUKRA
SATURN is SHANI
The NORTH NODE is RAHUTHE
SOUTH NODE is KETU
