High Flight by Pilot Officer Gillespie Magee

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Romance by Edgar Allan Poe

Romance,
who loves to nod and sing
With drowsy head and folded wing
Among the green leaves as they shake
Far down within some shadowy lake,
To me a painted paroquet
have been—most familiar bird—
Taught me my alphabet to say,
To lisp my very earliest word
While in the wild wood I did lie,
A child—with a most knowing eye.

Of late, eternal condor years
So shake the very Heaven on high
With tumult as they thunder by,
I have no time for idle cares
Through gazing on the unquiet sky;
And when an hour with calmer wings
Its down upon my spirit flings,
That little time with lyre and rhyme
To while away—forbidden things—
My heart would feel to be a crime
Unless it trembled with the strings.

Virginity • Question On Girls’ Morality

the guy who came to see Swati for marriage asked her "R you  Pure"

"Pure?? swati couldn't get his question.

"Pure as in untouched?" he clarified.

Swati now understood what he wanted to ask.

"What are u looking for a girl to marry or ghee?" she replied agitated by such a question. He was shocked at such a reply, but before he could say anything. Swati continued, "Well you can say if there was an exam about 'purity' I wouldn't top it!"

His family left.

Next day he rang up swati dad and told him that he cannot marry swati as she is a girl with low morals.

Bang on! Welcome to the progressive India where we claim to be modern people but still make Virginity a base to check a girl's morals or her capability to become a good wife.  Today when we claim that women have an equal status in the society with that of men, we still are under the orthodox views of using a white bed sheet on the first night of marriage just to check the bride's virginity!!! The guy may himself have slept with number of girls but he wants a "pure", "untouched" girl as a wife. Why? Answer-just to satisfy his male ego that the girl he is going to spend his life with has been and will be only his "possession".

If today a girl loses her virginity with a guy she loves truly but the guy turns out to be a cheat then she is tagged as a "slut", "characterless girl" ; MIND YOU these being the most decent words I can pen down ,else there are a million more worse words in our mother tongue vocabulary. I ask what is the mistake of the girl?  She loved a guy? She slept with someone she thought she would marry? Or, she now has lost her purity which would satisfy her to-be husband's male ego and make him believe that she is fit to be his wife! And again no answers I could get!

I completely support the fact that we Indians should not give up on our morals and accept everything that westernisation gives us but I wonder how can a biological wall in the girl's body by breaking decide the level of her morals?  I mean swati could have been a great wife, she was marrying the guy her parents chose, maybe she had a bad past… But all that was seen was that she wasn't pure!

And I am forced to wonder that what would happen to those rape victims? Who would marry those girls? Moreover being from a sports background, I have always been told by those orthodox distant relatives to Quit it, why? because playing may result in breakage of the "moral wall"!! "

"Urggghhh ", that's what I have always thought after hearing that!!

Yes, I am also a girl, an Indian girl, who values her morals, for whom her "eZzat" is priceless, who has always dreamt of her "raajkumar" coming on a white horse to marry her,  and who has always planned her wedding dress! But I am also a girl who belongs to the globalised world, interacts with the opposite sex, loves, has break ups, overcomes them and smiles again and no one has a right to tag me any thing for that reason! I just request you that next time you go looking for a girl for marriage, search for a true heart and not something like "pure ghee", because she 's gonna be your life partner and not your meal to satisfy your hunger of ego.

When you look at a beautiful girl coming dressed in a red lehanga leaving her world behind, to become a part of your world, accept her, make her life a bed of roses rather than testing her loyalty by making her lay down on a bed with white bed sheet because true love will make your marriage successful, her "purity" won't.

Shake it off, take a step up!

One day a farmer´s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn´t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone´s amazement, he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer´s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well, is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step upward!

LOVE PART 2

this love story part 2 . to read part 1 follow the link

http://www.greatypedia.org/2013/08/love-story-part-1.html

Was it 2 weeks or 3, he doesn't really remember. That is how long it
took for him to woo her. Or in fact, for him to be truly, deeply, in
love with her. He would lay his eyes on her and forget the world
around him.

People would say its exaggeration, but dear friend, that's how love
works. It is strange but it is how it is.

And finally, after a lot of hints from the PRINCEZzz, he did get on
his knees. On a cold wintery evening, with nothing but a bud of rose
in his hand, and a few words up his mind, he let it out. That felt
tougher than a surprise test, but yes, he did it. The fear of
rejection, well it stayed there , but for just about 5 seconds, that;s
how long she took to answer his fears, thoughts, questions, anxiety,
and a lot of other feelings.

They never knew who was what. Was he shy to hold her hands, or was she
shy to talk to him freely. They were hesitant, they were young, and
they were in love. And was it beautiful. They were happy beyond
imagination, beyond the materialistic world, beyond fights, sorrows,
miseries .

They were beyond all and everything, they were just into each other.
That is all they cared and thought about.

Days, weeks, months pass, again, but with that ever so profound
feeling of belonging, love, care. All was good and great but where
there is happiness, the devil gets around the corner. It was just a
few months and the first upsetting moments were soon to come. A
misunderstanding of sorts, or was it a failure of trust, or maybe just
a figment of thought that went way too off the track. Well whatever
happened, it was not really meant to.

It's raining outside, and he looks at his books. The music from his
phone, shakes him back to reality. Its almost 2 a.m., and there will
be an exam tomorrow. Why do those thoughts linger around, even now,
even after 4 years. It's been a while, a long while. The randomness of
his life is now replaced by the monotony of a college going student.
Stuck between being a child and an adult at the same time. Trying to
make firm decisions, making sacrifices at the same time. It's not easy
being in college, and even difficult , being in a society, that will
not leave you for 5 minutes of your time.

The phone rings. Who could it be at this late an hour. I lazily pick
my phone, and look at the screen through sleep deprived eyes. For a
moment its a stupid feeling in my head, but then i realize it's her
calling..

"Hi, hwzz you?" , she asks. The way she makes it sound so normal, it
shouldn't but it hurts. "Hi, am good. How are you? Pretty late. All
k?", i reply. "I am fine. Yaa yaa, all is fine. Just wanted to tell
you something". What does she want to tell me this late, all of a
sudden after no calls or texts in ten odd days. "Go on", i say. "
Rohit , we can not talk anymore." Now, that is surprising, cause we
hardly have been talking for quite sometime now. I wish to talk to
her, hell i do!! For as long as possible. But, anyways, the world
doesn't run how you want it to .I have sarcasm coming down my head,
but i restrain it. She continues, " Arjun asked me out today. And i
said Yes. So we can't be in touch anymore. No texts too please. I dont
wanna be….".

I hang up.

Love Story PART 1

Every one of us has a love story, or may be a crush , the madness for someone.
As crazy as it may sound, the very guy who at some point of life was
completely against the seating of boys and girls together in the
classroom would end up having a love story. And what a story it had to
be. Nothing less than filmy. Nothing less dramatic than a theatrical
hit. And the worse part, nothing as sad as another historical loss of
love. This is how, a school kid changed into a hardliner college
student, with nothing but a smile to fake, and left with nothing but
memories.

It all started after a long long summer. A new city and a new place. A
new school, with a lot of new people to know and adjust along. All
solace lay in that one face, that one smile, he would prod upon with
his eyes, and be lost in thoughts of. It all started with a smile, and
a smile, was what stole his heart away. A few months into higher
secondary school, the so called last step in the decade long journey
of schooling, he came across that smile. She was his angel, in his
thoughts and his dreams. Someone he longed for but with the cutest of
intentions. All he wanted was to sit and stare at that smile, for as
long as eternity. But would his voice actually muster up the courage to
speak to her. Well, it seemed to fail him as much as he tried. But no,
like they say, "When you want something, all the universe conspires in
helping you to achieve it." Friends, friends of friends..its a never
ending chain. And well the chain did carry his message to his
sweetheart, or was she to be his sweetheart?

In the absence of Facebook, Orkut and hi5 were his carrier pigeons and
the "yahoo messenger" was like a god given gift. And it all started
with a email id. The magic of how a person is elated with a single
"hi", can never be understood by anyone but the person themselves. The
curiosity to log-in after every 5 minutes , just in case you missed an
offline message. You don't want to exchange phone numbers, that might
be too desperate, but you so need to hear her voice. Her voice calling
out your name. So there it was , hour long chats on messenger. As soon
as he got back from school, till the time he had to leave for his
tuition classes, and back again till late at night. Thoughts, they
have no stop sign on them, neither do they listen to you. They dont
even care that they might just cause the very heart that lets them be
born , to collapse in false hopes and submerge in the darkness of ever
failing love.

Days , then weeks, they flew by, not knowing what was going to be the
outcome. Will it be a yes or a no. The hardest question ever. The
toughest decision and the even tougher thought of rejection and
depression that may follow. But he didn't know that it will be
depression and sadness, but after a long long magical night. That
would last for a really long time.

wait for LOVE STORY PART 2 :D

I HANG UP ...

‘CEASEFIRE’.

So…….it has happened again. Yes….Yes my fellow readers, my beloved
countrymen and my dear folks, we have yet again witnessed the brutal
face of our neighboring country Pakistan, a country which is just an
outcome of the immoral demands of some past leaders. Sometimes I think
if the partition of India never happened. What we miss is the anxiety
during Indo-Pak cricket matches, skipped a few chapters in the history
books and would accommodate the common date of independence for both
the countries. I guess that it would be more better than the dark
history we had read, the partition that had left an unseen scar on the
lives of many, the 1965 attack, the 1971 attack at the Longewala Post,
the threatening Kargil war, attacks on Mumbai in 2008 and the
countless terrorist attacks that always use to engulf our beloved
country every now and then.

However, to discuss the history is not my point. Neither I am good in
speeches or any inciting stuff that could lead goose bumps nor Mark
Antony who had been able to invoke a civil war in Rome with his mere
speech on the murder of his friend to dethrone the murderers of Julius
Caesar. I am just an other Indian like you all. I have my own sets of
questions to be asked about this attack on my motherland. 10 days
after we had celebrated Vijay Divas, a yet another stinking deed was
committed by this neighboring country. I hope that you all are aware
that Pakistani Army has again killed 5 Indian Soldiers. However, the
irony of these killings are that they have entered into the Indian
territory, break the so called 'SEIZE-FIRE' pact between the two
nations and like a brutal assassin, just snatched the lives of the 5
devoted Indian Jawans by launching a sudden attack on that Indian
Chowki.

The proceedings that pursues in our nation after these killings are
more heart-breaking. Leaders have started to speak all their shit on
these killings, opposition was ignited and got some matter to do a yet
another word assault at the ruling government, media has get the
masala to talk and publish for a few days, the ruling government
became conscious of the talks that will be conducted between their
respective leaders in the next month, the common man has the
television remote to switch between the various news channels and to
curse the government on this killings. And this is what we have done
in the past many years. We have just either demanded to launch a
counter attack or to curse the government which is held responsible
for the every ill happening in our country.

However, in this course, we always use to forget that it is we who
have elected these representatives. The failure of the government is
our failure indirectly. I know what will be the outcome of these
killings. The people who are now cursing the government or asking to
launch a counter-attack, who are doing various rallies and burning
green flags will return to normal after a few days. They will become
normal as soon as the news channels will shift their gaze on another
'Breaking News'. They will turn normal and will continue their
struggle for the basic needs. And this has what we have done always in
the past. Whether it were attacks on Mumbai or the similar deed by
Pakistan earlier this year, we were fueled for a few days, pumped up
by the every activity of our government, but then muted ourselves as
we eventually have to feed our respective families and denied our
participation.

However, the time has come to demand the real independence. The time
has come to ponder over these attacks seriously, to fix our duties and
maybe, to appeal our Government to reply them in their own tone. I am
just hoping that our government would take some serious, solid steps
to stop these kind of killings in the future or to tell Pakistan their
real meaning of 'SEIZE-FIRE'.

☻☻Love your Parents ☻☻

I was 11 when my father had lost his job and for the next 5yrs he was without a job until he decided to do something of his own and make a living rather than waiting for a life. But there was one thing he never lost and never will, it was Hope!!

The teacher in my school always used to mark me for late payment of fees, I turned down birthday parties for the need to buy a gift, I was using the same bag for 4 years till it was completely unusable, using a non-dust rubber seemed a luxury and pencils were supposed to be used till I wasn't able to hold them, me and my sister used to share a sharpener, buying a good compass box was out of question, having different shoes for PT period was something that we couldn't afford, we couldn't buy a cycle so I learned cycling on my friend's cycle, I didn't go out to play for the fear of getting hurt&requiring medical attention, while playing cricket one either has to have a bat or contribute for the ball so I always was the umpire. School picnics were missed saying I was ill and the entire vacation was spent home watching TV or reading. I have a sister and her situation was the same.
My mother was the sole earning member of the family; we were a family of 6 and average middle class family. There were two such occasions when there was no money left for food and that was the time when my father sold some jewelry for survival, which was the first time I saw my dad cry from the corner of my eye. But even at such times my dad never said NO to anything, he always gave me hope that someday he will get all those things that I want, buy me everything that he ever promised to get me and make-up for all the discomfort that he couldn't give me and my sister.

It was my 18th birthday last week and my dad gifted me a Firefox cycle with a fast track bag, a Dragon ball Z compass with everything like pencil, rubber, sharpener, scale, etc. inside it. The whole night I was crying; he never forgot, he never let me down; it was never a false hope! He actually gave meaning to the words "Hope is a good thing, may not be the best of the things&No good thing ever dies!"

My parents got us through the worst times of our lives; I only wish that I could ever match what they did for us!"
